Bio

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas where I currently reside. I earned my B.F.A. in ceramics from Texas Woman’s University in 2011, and my M.F.A in ceramics in 2015. I have exhibited in national, regional and local juried competitions, with work in private collections.

Artist Statement

I make sculptures and installations to convey ideas of identity, loss, and belonging. Observing my father’s memory loss towards the end of his life had a profound affect on me to consider memory as an anchor for identity. Prompting me to express reflective response of memories through familiar man-made forms and those found in nature. Growing up Latin and Catholic, old world iconic spiritual imagery and symbolism melded with Meso-American Indigenous beliefs giving me some unique and conflicting points of view. Expressing reflective responses using familiar forms found in nature, or man-made I am fascinated by the spiritual aspects of these societies, curious about memories as individuals and how they coalesce into the larger society.
